The Power of Meditation Practices

basic human rightWhat is Meditation?
Carried to its ultimate conclusion, meditation is learning to live naturally and to be in contact and control over oneself. Living naturally means being sensitive to nature’s in-born resources and innate intelligence within ourselves. Being in control of oneself means having control of the inner levels of your mind.

The practice of meditation is simple, or complex, depending on a person’s knowledge of the practices of meditation and one’s own needs at any given time in one’s life.

Generally, meditation is accomplished by using one or more techniques to withdraw the five senses and the mind from its attention to the outside world and make contact with the inner mental world of one’s own mind.

Types of Meditation
There are two basic divisions in the practice of meditation today. Most teachers and/or organizations teach one method with almost complete exclusion of the other. The first might be described as “contact meditation”, where a person tries to get in touch with his/her inner resources or reality. The second is “control meditation” where one controls different levels of the mind through “thought pattern programming”.

Contact meditation has its roots more in eastern, transcendent or mystical meditation. Control meditation has its roots more in western tradition that might be described as “suggestive positive-thought programming”.

In Metaphysics, unlike other individual teachers and/or teaching institutions, there is attention placed on both systems in order to reach one’s greatest potential as a person who is both inwardly knowing and aware, and at the same time outwardly successful and positive.

Meditation and Spiritual Reality
Sooner or later, through the practice of meditation, the serious student will discover what true spiritual reality is. The word “spiritual” will take on new meaning and definition by the practitioner of meditation that is, by and large, quite different from the variety of denominations of religious views. Unless one has experienced higher states of spiritual consciousness within oneself, and has integrated that consciousness into conscious daily life as positive personality patterns, they have little true frame of reference from which to teach or guide others on spiritual truths.

True spiritual reality, as revealed by meditation, uncovers the psychic and mystical fact that man is not sinful by nature. What man calls sin is only the ignorance of what man truly is within himself through lack of mental evolvement and through conditioning believes it to be sinful.

Meditation brings one to the most positive self-image of oneself. Through a multitude of meditation experiences of the innate spiritual level of one’s mind, the student of meditation discovers life’s innermost mysteries. The discovery of such mysteries comes from “contact meditation” or “mystical meditation”.

The truths learned from uncovering such mysteries of self and life become the basis, psychologically and philosophically, for the techniques of “control meditation”, that deals with success in one’s outer life.

Meditation, Psychic Power, ESP, Telepathy
All of these subjects are interrelated, with one affecting the other through the primary vehicle of meditation. As an example, everyone has some degree of psychic power. All people have ESP and telepathy working in them to one degree or another, as well. Meditation takes one into contact with “mystical power” or the divine energy source. Mystical power is the primary energy source, the Divine energy or Universal consciousness.

In meditation, conscious contact is made with the mystical power. The primal or Divine energy flows into those levels of the mind that contain the energies supporting the functioning of ESP, telepathy, etc. The primal energy increases the mental energies that support ESP, telepathy, etc. In this way, the student of meditation increases his/her ESP and telepathic powers. ESP, here, goes beyond though reading and becomes intuition. Intuition, in turn, becomes like an inner self-directing spiritual guide.

In the personal subconscious, negative thought pattern energies of the mind are sublimated into positive though patterns through the inflow of healing primal or Divine energy.

The primal or Divine energy, that is contacted in meditation also improves or maintains the good health of the body. The body is, in truth, an energy field that is affected in a healing, rejuvenating, renewing way by the contact with primal or Divine energy; which is the natural healing energy of the body.

If the student faithfully practices meditation he/she will enter a wonderful new way of life, becoming a happy person, more successful in the outer world of love, career and finances, and inwardly as a spiritually aware and evolved individual.

Deep Meditation Candle Technique
Place a lit white candle approximately six inches in front of you at eye level.  It is best to be seated at a table or desk.  Begin by concentrating intently on the candle flame.  As you do, breathe deeply and visualize yourself relaxing.

At this point, you begin the main practice of this technique, which is coordinating certain thoughts spoken out loud while opening and closing your eyes. Each time you open your eyes, stare directly into the candle flame. Repeat each of the following steps out loud, seven times each. For best results a small pause should be taken between the opening and closing of your eyes and the corresponding words spoken.

Step Number              Eyes open – look at flame and affirm                       Eyes closed – affirm
